Coconut Fatty Acid Distillate (CFAD)

Specialty-products

CFAD is a byproduct of the physical refining of coconut oil. During refining, the oil undergoes deacidification and deodorization using steam distillation at high temperatures. This process strips off free fatty acids and volatile compounds, which are then collected as CFAD.

Product details

Origin: Crude coconut oil, obtained from the kernel of coconuts (Cocos nucifera).
Appearance: Brownish-yellow to amber, semi-viscous liquid with a characteristic fatty odor. It may solidify at lower temperatures due to saturated fat content.
Taste: Not suitable for consumption; has a soapy, fatty residue taste (non-edible).
Packaging: Bulk tankers, Flexi tanks, IBCs, 20L jerrycans
Certifications: ISO 22000, HACCP, Non-GMO

Applications

Soap and Detergent Manufacturing: Excellent source of lauric acid for saponification.

Animal Feed: Used as an energy-rich additive in animal and aquaculture feed.

Oleochemical Industry: Acts as a raw material for fatty acid and ester production.

Biodiesel Production: Can be converted into methyl esters for biofuel.

Cosmetics: Occasionally used in low-grade emulsions and cleaning products
